As we eagerly look forward to the 9th edition of the Mediterranean Yacht Show, it's time to illuminate one of its most anticipated events: the Chefs’ Competition. The competition offers yacht chefs an exceptional platform to demonstrate their culinary competence and unleash their creativity, presenting Greek gastronomy at its finest. Each year, our talented superyacht chefs face a unique challenge, crafting dishes that embody a specific theme.
This year, we pay tribute to the wider area that has been hosting the show for years now, Argolida, and its rich lands with the theme: “Cooking the Orange.”
In the embrace of the Argolis Region, renowned for its picturesque capital Nafplion and cherished treasure, the orange, this year’s competition elevates this iconic fruit to the forefront. From its radiant flavour to its aromatic zest, the orange epitomises the Mediterranean spirit. Chefs are challenged to craft their finest main course dishes, celebrating the orange's versatility and allure. Whether accentuating its tangy sweetness, refreshing acidity, or aromatic essence, the orange serves as a muse for culinary innovation.
As chefs embark on this golden opportunity to showcase their talents, they will undoubtedly captivate judges and fellow chefs alike, leaving an indelible mark on this esteemed competition.
The Tablescaping Competition
Along with the Chef’s Competition, our chief steward/esses engage in the Tablescaping Competition, where they vie to create stunning table settings that complement the culinary creations. This celebration of style has become a beloved tradition of the MEDYS.
Distinguished Judges
We are privileged to welcome, for yet another year, two esteemed judges, each adorned with Michelin stars, to preside over this year's competition.
First, we have Chef George Papazacharias of Delta Restaurant in Athens, the only restaurant in Greece awarded two Michelin stars. Chef Papazacharias is renowned for his innovative approach to cooking and commitment to zero-waste practices. His accolades include the prestigious Michelin Green Star, a testament to his culinary excellence and dedication to sustainability.
Joining him is Chef Luca Piscazzi, bringing his global culinary expertise to the judging panel of the Chefs' Competition. As the Executive Chef of Pelagos Restaurant at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, which has been awarded with one Michelin star, he shares his innovative approach to Mediterranean cuisine through unique creations.
Let the 9th Mediterranean Yacht Show and its Chefs' Competition be a celebration of creativity and the timeless allure of the Mediterranean flavours and aromas.
